Hello to all my Fun Tri Challenge followers. I’ve completed the London Marathon ~ whoopeee. A lot slower than usual ~ it took me 4 hours & 33 minutes but I am sooo happy with my run today ~ I gave it all I had. I really didn’t know how I would feel today ~ I’ve never had this sort of a build up to a marathon before. I felt very tired as I set off but ran at my usual pace & was on target for a 3.30 marathon (my normal sort of time) up until half way. Then my poor legs & body just seemed to pack up on me & I began to struggle a lot. Realising there was no way I could continue the pace & with my legs protesting after all that pedalling I had to ease up to a rather painful wobbly run for the second half of the marathon. The weather was warm & sunny & the crowd support fantastic as ever & I was determined to complete the marathon. I was over the moon to finish in 4.33 & haven’t stopped smiling (nor wobbling) since. One of the highlights of my run was seeing & hearing the people playing bagpipes which reminded me of my Scottish adventure. After I finished I hobbled off to meet my friends. I was in worse shape than usual so they kindly loaned me a wheelchair! Fortunately I had my Scottish hat with me to keep warm ~ ho ho. Tomorrow at 4.30pm I get to cool off in the Beck for the third & final part of my Challenge ~ I’m sure the water will do my tired muscles good. Please find attached 2 photos from today which my friends kindly took after I had finished. Lots of love from Mandy xxxx
