Broadland Half Marathon 2016
About the Race
The Broadland Half Marathon is the Norwich Road Runner's premier event. Weaving through the beautiful Norfolk countryside, the race offers a slightly undulating route through country roads, with an out and back course that shows off the Norfolk countryside to its fullest. A popular event in the Norfolk race calendar, the event usually sells out, and attracts a wide field of runners from all over East Anglia. The race is suitable for those wanting to achieve a personal best, as well as first time runners looking to try a half marathon.
This year's race is on Sunday 13th March 2016, at South Walsham Village Hall, School Road, South Walsham, NR13 6DZ, starting at 9:30am.

Prizes and Awards
The race has 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes available in the following categories:
Male: Senior, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65+
Female: Senior, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65+
Additionally both senior and veteran male and female team prizes are available, with four qualifying entrants.
All awards will be allocated using 'gun times' - so first across the line wins the prize - the race is not a time trial.
Norfolk County Championships
This race is the Norfolk County Championship race for half marathon distance, and is open to any entrant (regardless of affiliation status) who is a resident in the county of Norfolk (by birth, more than nine months of residence in the county, or as a member of the armed forces based in Norfolk for more than nine months). Runners will confirm their eligibility for the championships when entering the race - please ensure you select the right option. Entry into the championships is automatic and included in the race fee.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded in all the same categories as mentioned above, after the race has concluded. The Norfolk County Championships are administered by the Athletics Norfolk Road Running Committee.

Tips for the Day
- Running a half marathon is a physically intensive task and we recommend you seek medical and physical advice from your doctor, GP, or professional sports consultant before undertaking training for the event.
- We recommend you arrive early to allow time to collect your race number, T-Shirt, and thoroughly prepare and warm up before the race, which starts promptly at 9:30am. We ask runners to be at the HQ at 9:15am for the pre-race briefing.
- The race is usually on a warm day, and given the distance, we recommend you take water and any nutritional items (i.e gels) with you.
- Headphones are banned from the race, and anyone seen running with them will be removed from the results. This decision is made by the race director or the race referee.
- If you feel ill at any point during the race - stop and seek attention from a marshal. A first aid provision will be present at the race at key points on the route.
- When crossing the finish line please continue through the finish funnel, collect your medal, and proceed to the water station. Do not stay in the finish funnel - there will be a lot of runners coming through.
- We will have a selection of cakes, biscuits, sweets and drinks available at the race HQ - the money from which will be donated to a local charity.
- We encourage you to stay after finishing the race to see who has won the race prizes and the Norfolk County Championship Medals. This will also help with parking as the exit from the car parks is on the finish line road. However, if you do need to leave, please follow marshal instructions at all times.
